Happy Autumn!
Happy Autumn, all!
Well, snow has fallen, and we’ve survived the usual first snow crazy driver syndrome. Before the true holiday season hits, there are some exciting events happening in November that you might want to know about. Election Day or Town Hall? As you know, the first Tuesday in November is Election Day. The first Tuesday in November (November 1st) also happens to be my regularly scheduled town hall at the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce in Centennial! In light of this, I’m sure you’d rather be at an election party or watching the results from your couch. So, I am working with the Chamber toget another date we can meet in November. Stay tuned for the new date. So, please remember to exercise your right and vote! Keeping Our Community Safe Please join me for my next town hall to honor local veterans in our community who fought to protect our freedoms and to learn how we can take charge of our safety at home from professionals who specialize in disaster preparedness, community safety, and terrorism protocols. This is a great opportunity to honor our vets and get informed on how to keep each other be safe in the 21st century. Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire, medical and police services may not be able to meet the demand for their services. Factors such as number of victims, communication failures, and road blockages could prevent the public from accessing emergency services that they have grown to expect at a moment notice from their 911 call. People will possibly have to rely on each other for help and direction in order to meet their immediate need for life and health sustaining services. You could be that person! You-right there- right now- saving their life, their child, friends or a loved one !
This course will give you the knowledge and ability to react responsibly, intelligently and immediately to a threat that could leave our community totally disabled in the event of a disaster. Should our community have a situation where first responders were not available, we could be of great benefit by providing guidance and direction to our neighbors, friends and families until help could arrive. There is nothing more overwhelming than to be in a situation where no one has the ability to help the injured, save lives or even hope to survive until help arrives. That feeling of helplessness can be greatly diminished. This course will train you to respond with authority and knowledge. You might be a vital link to the survival of people at almost any given time and/or be an important connection in the safe and expedient removal and/or care of your neighbors, friends or family from a disaster situation. Hopefully we will never be needed but can you afford to not be prepared?

Conflict resolution in your personal life can foster peace in your home, long-lasting friendships and relationships, and maintain respect in the community. The town hall will help residents learn about the free or low-cost resources that are available to them.
